Our curriculum is built around a knowledge-rich approach that inspires curiosity, develops confidence, and prepares children for the next stage of their education.  We believe that every child deserves access to powerful knowledge, skills, and cultural experiences that will help them understand the world and succeed in life.  Our curriculum is broad, ambitious and carefully sequenced, enabling pupils to build knowledge over time, make meaningful connections, think hard, and remember more as they progress through school. 

A knowledge-rich curriculum places learning at the heart of everything we do. Knowledge is carefully planned, explicitly taught, and regularly revisited so that children develop a deep understanding of important concepts and can apply their learning with confidence.  Drawing evidence from cognitive science, our curriculum is designed to help children retain knowledge in their long-term memory through retrieval practice, vocabulary development and opportunities to build on prior learning.  This ensures that learning is meaningful, memorable, and inclusive. 

Alongside substantive knowledge (the important facts, concepts and content children need to know), pupils also develop disciplinary knowledge, learning how historians, geographers, scientists, artists and mathematicians think, investigate and make sense of the world.  This enables children not only to know more, but also to understand how knowledge is created and applied within different subjects. 

At the heart of our curriculum are our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Aspiration, and Kindness.  These values shape both what we teach and how we learn. Through a rich range of learning opportunities, we nurture knowledgeable, confident, and compassionate young people who are ready to make a positive contribution to society.
